TaxMama s Tax Quips Stimulus Question – 6/12/08 – Thursday
Today TaxMama hears from Douglas in Massachusetts who wants to know. “If a person has no income and does not collect Social Security, can they still file for the Stimulus Rebate?”
Nope. Sorry. That person doesn’t qualify for the rebate.
But they aren’t earning anything, they must be living on something…or off someone.
Whoever’s dependent they are may be able to get $300 for claiming that person on their tax return. Perhaps….if they qualify as a dependent.
Of course, if they simply aren’t earning any money on the books… IRS certainly won’t be rewarding them anytime soon, will they?
And remember, you can find answers to all kinds of questions about the Stimulus Rebate and other tax issues, free. Where? Where else?
