Ask Taxmama Issue 428 – Columbus Day Weekend

Dear Family,

Tax season countdown – 10 days.

Monday is Columbus Day, so don’t expect to be
mailing anything to anyone via the USPS.

Do you ever have one of those days? Does everyone
else have days like that, too, that day?

Yesterday was an odd day like that.

A friend called and said she had been interviewed
on a live podcast and it was just awful. She just
couldn’t get the right words to work, for some
reason – and this is a seasoned speaker. Naturally,

I commiserated, albeit a little smugly because that
kind of thing just doesn’t happen to me.

Then last night, during our EA Exam Review class,
I had exactly that kind of night. Despite going
through all the information and Q&As carefully before

class, somehow, they just didn’t make sense to me
during class.

Was there something in the air yesterday?
Was it just along the West Coast of the USA.

Oh well, hope you’re having a much smoother day today!

In this week’s TaxQuips, we discover a wonderful
resource for Day Care providers, help an American
returning from overseas, advise a CPA with an IRS

notice about her husband’s medical practice, and
get a good chuckle from someone’s creative tax plan.

Last week’s Money Funnies was a quiz for people who

are smart. I was really surprised not to see any
replies or comments. Oh well…not so smart, then?
This week’s Money Funnies is a real pun. You’ll hate it!

IRS News this week gives you THE most valuable link
of all for folks who owe IRS money. There’s also
information for folks selling on eBay, ePage and
other auction and sales sites.

Our Job Advice of the Week is about using bullets.
Not metal ones, silly. But this short advice clip
did give me an idea for how to approach a resume
for someone who’d be great for a job – but doesn’t

have the work experience – just the hobby experience.

This weekend is also the end of the Jewish High
Holiday season. So, next week, you’ll find all your

Jewish friends and colleagues back at work, without
undue distractions.

You know, I sit here and tell you about my cultural
background. I do that because it’s what I know and
grew up with.

I’d love to know about your culture and traditions.
So, here’s a place where you can post your stories.!

Time to get to work!

Have an untaxing, fun week!

Hugs from your favorite TaxNerd,

Eva Rosenberg, EA

Summer Family Identity – 3 Choices:

Zazzle – Cafe Press – Queensboro

Since it’s summer, and you’re probably going to be traveling with your family, consider getting matching T-shirts and/or hats.

(DO NOT PUT ANYONE’S NAME ON THEM – you’re just asking strangers to kidnap your children!)

But do put everyone’s picture – so even if you don’t know the local language, you can point to a family member and ask if anyone has seen him or her. Or use a graphic or piece of art you all like. You’ll find three options right here in our SPECIAL DEALS section.

Use your art or others – and customize it
