Our answering machine has become somewhat of an annoyance. The outgoing message is no longer AT T TL76108 5 8GHz Digital crisp. I’ve lost the manual and don’t know how to retrieve messages when I’m not here. (Of course, I am usually here, or staff is, so it’s not often a problem.) Sometimes, people calling in get strange responses – like being told to enter a code. This is not good for a business office.

I need an odd combination – a two-line phone, with an answering machine, and at least one cordless handset, preferably two. This is not that easy to find. It is at Office Depot.

But who has time to run out and do shopping during a busy time of year? Even if you don’t have a tax season, your time is the most valuable asset you have. Don’t waste it. Do what I’m going to do. Either call Office Depot at 1.800.GO.DEPOT or go online to www.officedepot.com . We will get free next day delivery with orders of $50 or more.

Incidentally, this policy is great for times when you need heavy office supplies, like cases of paper, call for delivery. You won’t have to carry the box in. Love it!

Office Depot also carries tax software. Fans of Tax Cut Software won’t find it anymore. It has a new name H&R Block at Home. You want the boxed software rather than preparing your tax return online. With the software, you can prepare and efile 5 tax returns for the one price. However, you can prepare and print unlimited federal returns for no additional cost! I’ll tell you more about it tomorrow.
