Dear Family,
Yesterday IRS officially announced that February 14th is when they will start processing tax returns with itemized deductions and other forms that were affected by the tax law changes on. Although IRS says that most people are unaffected by this late filing, odds are, YOU are not most people. According to Spidell Publishing, if you’ve finished your IRS return (even if IRS is not ready to process it), you can efile it with California. They are not affected by the last-minute legislative changes. That’s nice to know.
IRS has a new research tool called a Tax Map. Hmmm…they have 2008 and 2009 versions, too. It looks interesting, but I haven’t had time to explore it yet. If you have, I’d love to hear your impressions.
Remember, we will be using Twitter more and more often, to get quick notes and updates out to you – www.twitter.com/taxmama . You don’t need to subscribe to Twitter if you’re on Facebook. Just friend me there. The posts will appear there, as well.
The Tax Calendar is up and accessible from any phone at all (that accesses the web). In fact, you can reach our site and view the entire TaxMama site via your phone. Yay!
We finally got a chance to send out the rest of the books to people this week. It’s great to be able to find all my lists and notes again. Gee, it IS nice having a fully functioning computer again.
People get so excited about this book. I love it! One client looked at it and was really surprised about the information on getting his children involved in his business. Right now, they are young enough so Dad is their hero. But we all know what happens as children get deeper into their teen years. Pretty soon, that generation gap widens. That doesn’t happen quite so much if they’re enthusiastically involved in some aspect of your business and you have something to talk about on a daily basis.
You know I had to get a new copy machine this week, right? Well, the folks who own the company, Ken and Debbie were delighted to see the new book. Debbie is excited about delving into its pages.
You can pick up your own copy inexpensively at Amazon.com. There’s even an ebook version out there for your Kindle or ebook reader.
I have been getting all my copy machines and service contracts from them forever. It saves time. I don’t have to waste time shopping, or to compare prices, or be concerned about getting service. I just call Ken or Debbie and they know what I want. These big monsters (with lots of sorting capabilities) usually work out well for several years.
This last machine has lasted for about 7 years without any repairs, except for routine, annual maintenance. It’s been so good that I’ve even gotten away without paying for a service contract for the last several years! As these machines get fewer working parts, and contain more electronics and fewer mechanical parts, they break down less often. Take that into account when looking for a new copy machine.
CPE Link Classes
We’ll be back after tax season. Meanwhile, use the recorded classes as resources. https://www.cpelink.com/teamtaxmama
There are lots of other great classes here, too. You’ll find tax updates, classes on Excel and QuickBooks, bookkeeping, and specialized areas of taxation, like religious institutions and more. There are some interesting classes on doing Internet searches, using Facebook and Twitter for accountants. But I think the information can apply to anyone in business. https://taxmama.wpengine.com/earn-cpe-without-leaving-the-office/
