Ask TaxMama Issue 484 – Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving

Dear Family,

A fast and short week!

While we’re getting prepared for the holidays, President-Elect Obama is working hard to build a strong team that can immediately look at solutions. Listening to reporters quizzing Obama about his plans, it strikes me that no intelligent person could really provide definitive answers and solutions. Clearly, even Obama’s generally upbeat and strong attitude is becoming weary of those questions. Right now, it will take his team a bit of time to see what solutions can work in the immediate term and in the long-term, as well. It appears we’re not just going to get bandaids slapped on our financial wounds…but perhaps a bit of pain now for full health later.

And it’s time for journalists to come up with better questions. Hey, we all have to start thinking now.

Thinking leads to thanking. You know how I feel about you. You keep me enthusiastic and bouyed up each day. Your questions, comments, jokes and long-distance friendship (or even right near by) make it all worthwhile. And you’ve had a better year than you realize. Read what makes some people feel grateful this year.

Have a lovely time with your family and friends. And if you see someone who’s alone, invite them to hearth.

For a bit of warmth, today’s Money Funny are all about how children interpret things we take for granted.

In today’s IRS News we have the new mileage rates for 2009.

In TaxQuips this week, we started out with gambling and finished up with payroll tax deposits.

As always, we love your feedback, opinions and ideas.
You are what makes all this fun – and interesting!

Zazzle – Cafe Press – Queensboro

Since it’s summer, and you’re probably going to be traveling with your family, consider getting matching T-shirts and/or hats.

(DO NOT PUT ANYONE’S NAME ON THEM – you’re just asking strangers to kidnap your children!)

But do put everyone’s picture – so even if you don’t know the local language, you can point to a family member and ask if anyone has seen him or her. Or use a graphic or piece of art you all like. You’ll find three options right here in our SPECIAL DEALS section.

Use your art or others – and customize it
