Dear Family,
17 days and 16 hours and 58 minutes to go until April 15th.
(Did you see the countdown widget at www.taxmama.com ?)
We’ve got about two weeks to go, and tension is mounting.
Millions of tax returns are transmitted in the last few
days. Doesn’t it amaze you how IRS’s system just absorbs
it all, without fail?
I can’t go a day without running into some glitch somewhere
online. In fact today, I am behind getting this newsletter
done because my host’s server was doing routine maintenance at 5 am. Can you believe it? Who would do maintenance when I am trying to work. (Oh, they think West Coast people are still asleep. Uh huh…not since the Internet!)
Remember when you used to have soooo much more free time?
BI – Before Internet – I actually used to have entire days
to myself. True, I am working longer and sleeping less.
But I am having the time of my life!
Aren’t you?
Let’s we, what do we have for you today? Oh, lots of
goodies!
First of all, tune in to this morning’s interview with Jim Blasingame, the Small Business Advocate
https://www.smallbusinessadvocate.com/content/features/listen.shtml
For those of you concerned about the schedules that
are transmitted (or not) with your e-filed returns –
read my updated blog at AccountingWeb.com. This morning
I received a contribution from Tennessee CPA Brian F.
Tankersley. If you have data to add, please let me know
and it will get included.
https://www.accountingweb.com/blogs/
Today’s TaxWatch column on MarketWatch.com is about
how to deal with rental property and roommates – and
offers you a way out of the $25,000 limits. It should
be up by noon today.
https://www.marketwatch.com/personalfinance/taxes
This week’s Money Funnies is totally tongue-in-cheek.
It offers up one taxpayers attempt to pay his tax bill.
https://taxquips.com/index.php?cat=MoneyFunnies
IRS News shows IRS working overtime to get the Stimulus
Rebates into our hands. (Can you just see the millions
of dollars it’s costing the US Government to pay out
all these Rebates? Oh well, I hope employees are getting
paid lots of overtime. Now THAT does help the economy!)
You will also learn how to get the status of your tax
refund – and Disaster assistance for new and old disasters – in English and Spanish.
https://taxquips.com/index.php?cat=IRSNews
TaxQuips this week were a lot of fun. We learnd about some
really weird W-2s popping up this year, whether Section
179 depreciation is affected by AMT (alternative minimum
taxes), solved a major problem with an IRS notice, and
explained how IRS’s propensity to grab your refund works.
https://taxquips.com/index.php?cat=TaxQuips
This week’s Job Advice is about not lying on your resume.
https://www.taxquips.com/index.php?cat=JobAdviceoftheWeek
As always, we love your feedback, opinions and ideas.
You are what makes all this fun – and interesting!
