This week was very busy working on the Staples Tax Tweet and $5K Tax Giveaway. It turned out to be a lot of fun – and very informative. I have posted the scripted chat on the site. Unfortunately, it’s a bit difficult to locate all the questions people asked via Twitter. (There a was a lot of cross chatter and re-tweets.)

The week before, we did a Small Biz Chat with Melinda Emerson, the SmallBizLady at https://succeedasyourownboss.com . She asks good questions. Melinda posted the chat on her site, in case you want to read the discussion, without the interruption of lots of distracting tweets.
Several reporters called this week about a variety of topics. It seems one of the hot issues is the delayed refunds. People posted questions in the TaxQuips Forum about that, too. Have patience my friends. The money IS coming. There are glitches in the software due to the myriad of changes to the forms and processing. Improvements always include bugs. You know that in your own software.
And if you’re looking for your refund, remember, IRS has a Where’s My Refund tool on their website. H&R Block and some other software companies have apps for your phone.
Speaking of software glitches. Microsoft. (Need I say more?) My computer downloaded IE9 this week, unbeknownst to me. (Yes I do have the automatic updates turned off.) I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!! It causes me to accidentally close tabs with data I am working on before it’s saved. (and I am a compulsive ‘ctrl S’er or SAVE button hitter.) I had to redo this newsletter THREE times before it saved the basic information. GRRRR…. This stupid program has been like that all week. There is a reason I don’t like installing new software during tax season. It wastes too much of my time.
Moving on to good news. The EA Exam is over for now. Now we can concentrate on tax season. Lots of people passed their last-minute exams. But there are some people who didn’t quite pass Part 2. One person committed the major sin of changing answers at the last minute. (they were correct before the change….ARGHHHHHH) Since there are a few people who’d love to be able to pass Part 2 right after the window opens, we’ll do some follow-up sessions in May, before the live class starts.
