Dear Family,
Tax Haiku (Tax Ku)
Bush offers rebates
to stimulate economy
too little too late
Wow, we’re going to get a chunk of money. Are you?
I read Andrea Coombes overview of Bush’s new rebates last night, and slept well, knowing that my property taxes will be reimbursed.
Will I pour that money back into the economy? I don’t know.
Hmmm…if we don’t get an HD television soon, we may not be able to watch TV at all as the standards change. Ah, but that won’t happen until February 17, 2009. So I’ll just pay off the credit cards I ran up in December. So much for the economy.
What about you?
Rather than cry about the economy, let’s go on to fun stuff. Like, Monday is BubbleWrap Appreciation Day. No reason you can’t celebrate early is there? Go play at the Bubble Wrap fun page!
Moving on to Money Funnies, today’s offering is a clever response to rudeness and lack of consideration.

We keep hearing about lay offs. People are worried about their jobs. Why? When TheLadders adds over 1,000 jobs a week that pay over $100,000, why can’t you find a job there?
This week’s Job Advice is to Buddy Up in your job search.
https://taxquips.com/index.php?id=682
TaxQuips this week is rich with information. You’ll find an extensive report about our super secret (NOT) meeting with IRS last week – and how it’s going to affect you. There are tips on how back up your computer – and how to recover lost tax data (and all files) in the event of a crash. We clear up some misconceptions about income – and explain how to report it. And we end with that fascinating realm of budding
millionaires – the Internet Marketer.

IRS News has so much going on. If you can’t read all 153 pages of it, at least scan the table of contents and find the things that are important to you. IT is the National Taxpayer Advocate’s Objectives Report to Congress. Nina E. Olson does a fabulous job of representing our interests. I hope she never leaves that office.
This week’s TaxWatch column at MarketWatch.com is an analysis and explanation of what to consider when you want to take Social Security benefits early.

Next week is the special Tax Season issue with the
Online Filing article.
As always, we love your feedback, opinions and ideas.
You are what makes all this fun – and intersting!
