TaxMama® and her Team TaxMama® answer your tax questions for free
We created this site to help you avoid ever having to get into trouble with the IRS. During my decades of tax experience, I have done a lot of tax trouble-shooting, helping people fix bad audits, or reduce enormous tax debts, or to get IRS levies removed from wages and bank accounts. In most of the cases, the problems could have been avoided fairly easily. But through inaction, stinginess, fear, or sheer cussedness, people got themselves into such big trouble – the stuff of nightmares.I don’t want that to ever happen to YOU.
So, please, before making any major financial decisions, please sit down with your own tax professional. If you don’t have one, or would rather not do that – then come to us. We’ll do our best to give you our wisdom. We’ll give you legal strategies and tips. We’ll show you where to look or to research your situation.
But we won’t do the work for you – and we won’t replace your existing tax advisor.
TaxMama.com is built around the free tax forums. This is where the TaxMama® and other tax professionals provide answers to your questions and show you where to get advice. If your situation is too complex to be handled within the free forum we can give you guidance on where to look for more information. This is designed to help you and your tax professional get a better handle on the tax issues. If you don’t have a tax pro, we can often refer you to an appropriate expert.
Started in 2000, TaxMama.com is one of the oldest and most respected tax sites on the Internet. With thousands of tax professionals regularly visiting, it is one of the safest and most trusted sites for regular taxpayers to ask their questions. When we have time, we might pull up legal citations for you – but don’t count on it. That’s the kind of research tax pros get paid to do. We spend hundreds of hours learning to do just that – so pay the tax pros what they are worth.
Remember, I mentioned stinginess in my introduction? Yes. Well, I have found that when people are too cheap to invest in a one-two hour consultation with a tax or financial planner – they end up paying thousands of extra dollars in taxes and penalties. THEN, they pay much higher fees to fix the problem – often thousands of dollars.
I don’t want you to waste your time or money.
Come to us to get guidance first. It’s easier to help you before you pull tens of thousands of dollars out of your 401k plan, or before you discharge a debt, or before you go to an audit. We’ve all been there. We know what to watch out for – and maybe give you some other ideas to solve your problem with lower tax repercussions.
TaxMama.com is not a replacement for a real tax professional. The experts in the forums will not do your calculations for you, but they will point you in the right direction! We can link you to IRS publications and key articles about your topic. Sometimes we can point to specific information in other places.
