Dear Family, Those of us in the Los Angeles area are dealing with a special and unusual phenomenon today. The Space Shuttle is taking its final trip, heading for the museum where it will make its home – the California Science Center near USC. Many people have already camped out, hoping for a glimpse, as […]
US economy adds 54,000 new jobs in May – that sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? The WSJ’s perspective – Jobless Rate Rises as Pace of Hiring Slows USA Today adds – Unemployment rates jumps to 9.1% as U.S. economy adds 54,000 jobs The Huffington Post scoffs – U.S. Only Added 54000 Workers In May As […]
Dear Family, What a distracting morning! While I am perfectly capable of ignoring ringing telephones, I haven’t quite mastered the art of ignoring emails. They seem to pile up if you don’t answer them, or read them, have you noticed? Then we had a little earthquake. Not much. Certainly not for Southern California. (Actually, OK…truth? […]
Today TaxMama wants to speak to you about your credit score and how fix it and raise it.
Dear Family, Well, it’s the end of April. The world somehow survived a volcano and an earthquake that left travelers stranded all over the world. It’s interesting the different ways that tavel companies dealt with it. Yesterday, within seconds of each other, I received two emails. The first was from an executive at British Airways, […]
31 days and 15 hours and 2 minutes to go until April 15th.

Headlines – Bear Stearns Bailout
Lender bailouts – one-fifth of a trillion dollars!
CEOs score hundreds of millions in compensation
Teachers brace for massive layoffs
What I don’t understand is – why there always a bailout to
help the pirates and those who got fat and rich? Why not simply
insist that before any bailouts, those who grew rich due to
their marginally ethical business practices must deplete their
own funds to shore up their loans, businesses, etc.?
It’s not as is no one was watching. The LA Times was reporting
the huge salaries of Countrywide officers for several years.
And the Los Angeles Unified School District, always screaming
about a lack of funding for teachers and books wastes hundreds
of millions of dollars on junk – over 50 million on a payroll
computer system that doesn’t work, hundreds of millions on
poisoned properties they can’t use…even more on their entire
inventory of real estate not being used – or sold to generate
funds to cover programs.
And we sit idly by, being amused and entertained by this
profligate waste of our tax dollars – and the destruction of
our children’s education. Doesn’t that make you furious?
Not furious enough. I’ll bet your conversations today revolve
more around some politician’s sex expenses than on how to
stop the politicians who are financially bleeding our economy.
Fine, then I’ll just go focus on my own economy!
Let’s start with the good stuff. The first box arrived yesterday
containing The 100% Home-Based Business Tax Solution discs.
They are gorgeous! It’s really quite a rush when you are
responsible for producing something so tangible.
You should be getting your shipment of the Tax MiniMiser
and disc, by today – if you ordered the small set. The large
set ships on Monday. WOW! It’s so exciting.
You’re going to save so much money – and pull it out of the
tax pool so the politicians can’t spend it.
The Orientation for Solving the Tax Puzzle was recorded
and distributed yesterday. The first session will be recorded
tomorrow morning before we start meeting with clients.
We’re on our way to pick up all the puzzle pieces!
Yesterday, I also finished up the MarketWatch article about
a most bizarre way to pass along dependents – illegally.
There’s an interesting twist to help divorced parents.
Yesterday was a busy day!
IRS News is about tax credits – for retirement savings and
for fuel cell vehicles. Keep a good eye on your retirement
funds this month as the Stock Market yo-yo’s dramatically.
This week’s Money Funnies will make you smile – or offend
you – if you’re the kind of person who chooses to be offended.
TaxQuips this week includes fair market values, appraisals,
education benefits, inheritances and collecting Social
Security based on your former spouse. LOTS of heated
This week’s Job Advice is about avoiding clutter in your
resume. I’d love to avoid it in my office, too.
As always, we love your feedback, opinions and ideas.
You are what makes all this fun – and interesting!

Don’t forget to have a green beer this weekend!
