Dear Family,
It’s been a busy and fun week in Las Vegas at the
IRS Tax Forum. We must have walked 5 miles a day,
just inside the Rio.
Learned lots of things. Hope to remember them.
I am writing from my hotel room at the Gold Coast,
right across the street from the Rio. Heck with the
vast distances at the Rio, walking across from the
Gold Coast may even be faster or easier than walking
to your room at the Rio – for a third the price.
Cute place. Good food. Great beds.
We met lots of people. Some of you – our favorite
folks, of course! And new people you’ll be meeting
here in the future. Everyone we met is so smart!
RJ (you already see one of her comments in TaxQuips
this week) passed the EA exam without even studying.
Our Wine Cellar party Wednesday night was just perfect!
The group was big enough to be interesting – and small
enough to be intimate. Conversation never flagged as
we all brought out our favorite tax cases and stories.
You have no idea how funny taxes really can be until
you sit with a group of smart, witty, and with-it
Enrolled Agents, CPAs and attorneys.
Some of us we lucky enough to attend the Taxpayer
Advocate Service’s (TAS)focus group on how to get
information to Small Businesses about the help they can
get from TAS. There were some brilliant ideas proposed.
Some ideas were even proposed that can be accomplished
without impacting TAs’s budget much at all. Of course,
I do think that if TAS would produce a new reality
show challenging business-owners to solve their tax
problems – not only would it not impact their budget,
TAS might even make a huge profit on the deal!
