Ask Taxmama Issue 431 – Frightful Weekend

Dear Family,

You can’t turn the news on anywhere without seeing constant

reports of the California Wildfires. The Los Angeles Times
has built a Google Map of the fires, you can check anytime.
https://www.snurl.com/ca_wildfires

I can’t ever remember a Santa Ana season (the hot winds) when
sooooooooooo many people have been evacuated from their homes.

California does tend to have fires. But relatively few homes or
structures ever burn down, due to the diligence of our Fire
Departments – AND the help they get from fire departments
around the country.

If you are a parying kind of person, this is a good time to

pray for the safety and welfare of all the firefighters and
volunteers – as well as the people in the affected areas.

IRS has already jumped in with tax information for the victims,
which you’ll find in today’s IRS News. But be careful. These

areas have not yet been declared Presidential Disaster Areas.

In this week’s TaxQuips, we learn about heros, an AIDS survivor,
a diligent investor and a charity that wants to turn the jewelry

and coins they’ve received into cash. But, I’ve got to tell you,
some of the Comments are even more interesting than my answers!

Our Money Funnies is punny, with twisted Confucius sayings –

IRS News also covers the new reporting rules for Gambling Tournaments.
If you participate, on TV or in casinos, you’ll want to read this.

This week’s Job Advice is about motivation.

Well, it’s time to go. Still a lot to do before we put Pop to rest,

and to get ready for tomorrow’s last EA class, and Monday’s
CA NATP sessions.

Have an untaxing, Boooo-tiful week!

Hugs from your favorite TaxNerd,

Eva Rosenberg, EA

Summer Family Identity – 3 Choices:

Zazzle – Cafe Press – Queensboro

Since it’s summer, and you’re probably going to be traveling with your family, consider getting matching T-shirts and/or hats.

(DO NOT PUT ANYONE’S NAME ON THEM – you’re just asking strangers to kidnap your children!)

But do put everyone’s picture – so even if you don’t know the local language, you can point to a family member and ask if anyone has seen him or her. Or use a graphic or piece of art you all like. You’ll find three options right here in our SPECIAL DEALS section.

Use your art or others – and customize it
