Supreme Court Gives IRS Big Win in Restaurant Tip-Reporting Case
In a case that pitted the restaurant industry against the IRS, a
restaurant argued that the IRS should not be able to assess an
employer-restaurant for FICA tax on underreported tips without
proving that the restaurant's employees actually underreported tips.

Random Audits are Back - With a Vengeance
IRS Will Randomly Audit 50,000 2001-Year Returns
IRS will soon begin its random audits of about 50,000 tax returns from
2001. Information gleaned from the random audits will be used to
revise IRS guidelines on how to select returns for audit.
