Dear Family,

Today's headline:

WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Interest rates in the United States will rise from their 45-year lows only when the U.S. economy is closer to full-speed ahead, Federal Reserve Board Vice Chairman Roger Ferguson said Thursday. [See the article in CBS's Market Watch]

May I translate?

Interest rates in the United States will rise from their 45-year lows only after the presidential election.

And speaking of news, Ellen Zucker sent us a note about a new book that looks like it's on a best-seller track.

Perfectly Legal: The Covert Campaign to Rig Our Tax System to Benefit the Super Rich - and Cheat Everybody Else by David Cay Johnston

Is that a title, or what? Talk about a mouthful - but it does generate excitement. It's either going to make Johnson rich - or send him to jail. You know IRS will be reading it.

Ellen also sent a link to an interview with this very colorful author.

I haven't had time to read it yet, but, you know I will.

One book I did have some time to read, by Doug Thorburn, really intrigued me. It's called, "How to Spot Hidden Alcoholics." What's fascinating is his chapter on the biochemistry of alcoholism. I don't think even textbooks on alcholism delve into it this well. But reading the book, and the personality traits and behaviors, it illuminates the mystery of many of the disfunctional relationships I hear about from so many people. If you're thinking of getting married, or forming a partnership with anyone, you may just want to read this book first.

On a more upbeat note, you'll like this really beautiful Interview with God that Greg Kahn sent in. As Greg says, "The photography is stunning and the message profound even for those not spiritually inclined.

This is, after all, the season of miracles.

Spend this time creating your own miracles of love.
