Search this SiteIn the last episode, Bryan from Pennsylvania asked:

I am seeking a site on the Internet which provides basic information about the 50 states; for instance, is there a location which lists the due dates for all of the states [and the due dates for extensions]? I understand that this information can be derived from the state's own website, or their publications, but it would help if this information could be presented in a one-page format.

Bryan asked about links for states' taxes.

There are a few broken links but check out direct links to the Taxing Authorities (TA) and Unemployment Insurance (UI) Web sites for each state and the District of Columbia (including links to Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands). <http://www.tax.gov/states.htm>

And I just re-read Bryan's E-mail about taxing jurisdictions and realized he is from Pennsylvania. I remembered that the Department of Revenue has a web page for information about the myriad of local jurisdictions' taxes in Pennsylvania (but the link was down a few minutes ago). <http://www.revenue.state.pa.us/links.htm#Local>

It has been helpful with the locals.

Eva,

Re: the individual asking about due dates for state returns, etc. http://www.accountantsworld.com has a due date calendar for federal and state dates on their site.

I haven't tried it out but it looks pretty comprehensive.

Hello, TaxMama,

I just read today's newsletter & wondered if that person looking for state tax information has looked at the TMI Quickfinder Handbook. The manual relating to individuals has a section "2000 All States Quick Reference".

Having lived in Arizona & North Carolina (two states people love to move to) I find it a wonderful ready reference. (I'm also too cheap to pay for CCH's All States version.) The place to find them is http://www.quickfinders.com .

<TaxMama Comments>

All great resources, which will be added to the new resource center .... to be debuting next month.

Sherrie's reference to the QuickFinder is to a professional tool. But, she's right - it's cost is only about $40!

If you're interested, there are some excellent worksheets to use with many ordinary tax situations - and some unusual ones. In particular, my clients love the worksheet for non-cash charitable contributions because they included values for commonly donated items.

Thanks to all the pros who helped!
