Tax Information With a Mother's Touch Volume 3, Issue 94 January 5, 2001 I'm Really In Business! |

From a Georgia Peach in Albany, GA ... ![]() Your questions are very good. And I'll help direct you. But, basically, you're running a full-fledged business out of your home. And hopefully, you're doing better and better at it! So, you really ought to sit down with a local tax pro and do some planning on how to handle all the bookkeeping and reduce your taxes. For now, though, you'll need to file the long form of the 1040, using the Schedule C to report your business income and expenses. If you call IRS's forms line at 800-TAX-FORM 800-829-3676 and ask the 1040 package, they'll send you the booklet with all the forms you'll need. Or you can get them from here: http://www.irs.gov/forms_pubs/forms.html. You'll need - 1040, Schedule C, Form 4562, Form 8829 There's some good information here about reporting your office in home and use Form 8829 There is a great deal of information about taxes for small business in IRS's Publication 334. That's a good place to start. Keep up the great work! Good luck and Best wishes, Eva Rosenberg |
