Late W-2

From: Green Bay, WI

Dear TaxMama,

What can I do if I don't receive my W2 from my employer by January 31st?

Jessica
TaxMama Replies
Dear Jessica,

WAIT. They are not required to be MAILED until January 31st.

If you don't get it by the 5th or 6th, call your employer.

If you never get it ... use your final paystub to create a Substitute for W-2

You can generally use it for your state return, too.

Attach a copy of the paystub to your tax return.

And you'll still get your refund and all that jazz.

And you're all set.

Best wishes,
Eva Rosenberg
