Tax Information With a Mother's Touch Volume 3, Issue 96 January 19, 2001 Filing 1099s |
|
From Denver, CO ![]() Sounds like your business is growing. Wonderful! One reason you may not be able to get IRS's site to produce the form is that it needs to be filed on an original, red form. Since you only need one of them, simply call IRS at 800-TAX-FORM 1-800-829-3676 and ask them to mail you one or two pages of Form 1099-MISC and a Form 1096. There are 3 1099's per page - and you use the 1096 as cover sheet to summarize your 1099s - even if you only have one. Incidentally, there is another resource - online. http://taxmamma.com/Reviews/filetax.html You don't have to worry about getting the forms done properly -- and you'll have proof of filing. Keep, growing, Janet! Best wishes, Eva Rosenberg |
