Auto Track Costs

From: Blue Springs, MO

Dear TaxMama,

Regarding mileage deductions for your auto:

As a full time Indep Rep. with MLM [multi-level-marketing], which is OK?

Write down and keep track of daily mileage, or just use yearly beginning and year ending mileage?

John
TaxMama Replies
Hi John,

Try to do both.

You'll need the beginning and ending numbers for the year, regardless.

But you do use the car for personal.

So, if it's easier to track the personal miles and subtract them from the total, that will work, too.

For more information, read this, Car and Truck Expenses Chapter of Publication 334

Best wishes,
Eva Rosenberg
