Daughterly Dependent

From: Kentucky

Dear TaxMama,

My daughter got married this year but she still lives with me. She is disabled. Her husband filed his taxes married filing joint.

Can I Claim her for the EIC?

If so how do I do It.

Sharon

Dear Sharon,

In a word - NO!

That would be asking for a tax fraud investigation.

Come on, Mom, you know better than that. She's married. They're filing jointly.

What does that tell you?

Best wishes,
Eva Rosenberg, MBA, EA
