Review Your Company's Medical Coverage Now On the bad news front - a General Accounting Office (GAO) report just revealed how many small employers have been victimized by buying phony health insurance policies for their employees. One hundred forty-four (144) entities have not paid at least $252 million in medical claims. Ten of the 144 entities covered the majority of employers and policyholders and accounted for almost one-half of unpaid claims. My friends, if you bought health insurance from a small, unknown carrier, run, don't walk to read the GAO report and to check on the validity of your coverage. Make sure your carrier is not among those described in the report. Make sure you don't have a discount plan instead of actual insrance. Find out exactly how they pay out on their claims - and when. Google the company to see if there are any reports online about people having problems with them. Find out now, before you or your employees run up expensive medical bills. |
