More Cars Certified for
Clean-Burning Fuel Deduction

If a taxpayer buys a certified clean burning fueled vehicle, a tax deduction is available.

The IRS has certified the Honda Insight, model years 2003 & 2004, and the Honda Civic Hybrid, model year 2004 as clean-burning fuel vehicles eligible for the $2,000 tax deduction. Previous certifications have been released for the Prius for 2001-2004, the Honda Insight for 2000-2002, and the Honda Civic Hybrid for 2003.

Purchases of qualified cars in 2003 receive the full deduction. Purchases in 2004 receive 75% of the deduction.

This news release can be found at www.irs.gov/pub/ by clicking on irs-news and then clicking on ir2004-16 I can email you a pdf copy of the revenue procedure upon request.
