» From: Chester, VA Dear TaxMama: My daughter turned 18 years old on January 5, 2003. She held a job which she made around 2600.00. My question is: Can I still claim her as a dependant? I did provide for over 50% of her support in 2002 and Does she claim her self on her taxes? Dawn ![]() How wonderful! Your baby is growing up. But she was still your baby last year. So, yes, you may still claim her as a dependent. And when she files her own tax return, she will not claim herself. She can probably do her tax return online for free at TaxBrain For 2003, if she is still a full-time student, even if she works, you'll still be able to take her as a dependent. If not, sigh...then, she's on her own. I do hope that helps. Best wishes, Eva Rosenberg Your TaxMama |
