» From: Irvine, CA Dear TaxMama: I have not filed taxes in about 7 years - I probably didn't owe. I would have gotten returns. Anyway, I don't know where to begin - I have moved a couple of times and have no idea where my W-4's are. What can I do? I need my tax returns to purchase a home next year. Thanks so much Deborah Dear Deborah, This is a good time to start working on it. It will take IRS several months to get the older years. But they will have the last 3-4 years on the computer. You'll find links and instructions in TaxMama's Article, Past Tense. Ask IRS for copies of your W-s and 1099 information. Just start filing your returns as soon as you get the information. You may need to contact the California Franchise Tax Board, too. IRS's printouts won't show your state income tax withheld. I can't remember the form number and have to finish corporate returns today. So I don't have time to look. And if you need a tax professional in the Orange County area, let me know. I know good people there. Best wishes, Eva Rosenberg Your TaxMama |
